Papel do tratamento farmacológico na evolução e nas complicações das valvopatias mitrais

As valvulopatias mitrais de etiologia reumática ainda são muito prevalentes em nosso meio. O manuseio clínico deve ser instituído em situações bem definidas, de modo a não mascarar sintomas e a indicação de correção cirúrgica ou percutânea. O tratamento farmacológico deve ser evitado em pacientes assintomáticos em ritmo sinusal e é geralmente voltado para o controle de arritmias e prevenção de fenômenos embólicos.

Pharmacological management influence on the natural history and complications of mitral disease

Rheumatic mitral diseases are still very prevalent in our population. Clinical management must be instituted in well defined scenarios in order to avoid symptoms masquerade delaying surgical or percutaneous intervention. Pharmacological treatment is not indicated for asymptomatic patients in sinus rhythm. It is usually indicated to arrhythmia control and prevention of systemic embolism.
