CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS NA INSUFICIÊNCIA CARDÍACA: UMA REVISÃO DA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA RECOMENDADA PARA TRATAR OS SINTOMAS

Atualmente há um grande movimento para melhorar o final da vida dos pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca. A insuficiência cardíaca atinge 4% a 11% das pessoas com 65 anos ou mais, e aproximadamente 10% dos pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca possuem a forma mais avançada da doença. Se uma condição reversível não está presente ou se o transplante cardíaco não constitui opção factível, por definição, torna-se uma doença terminal. E, infelizmente, mesmo com o tratamento ótimo, alguns pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca grave continuam a ter deteriorado seu quadro clínico e evoluem extremamente sintomáticos. O controle adequado dos sintomas é prioridade nos cuidados paliativos. Os sintomas mais comuns são: dispnéia, fadiga, náusea, constipação,
ansiedade e depressão. Dor é comum em pacientes com a doença já avançada. Neste estudo foi realizado um levantamento dos medicamentos utilizados para tratar os sintomas de pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca terminal em cuidados paliativos, que permitirá ao farmacêutico novos conhecimentos para atuar na prática clínica multiprofissional.

PALLIATIVE CARE IN HEART FAILURE: A REVIEW OF DRUGS TO TREAT SYMPTOMS

Nowadays, there is a great movement to improve end of life for patients with heart failure. Heart failure affects 4% to 11% of people aged 65 and over, and approximately 10% of these patients have the most advanced form of the disease. If a reversible condition is not present or if the heart transplantation is not an option, by definition, it becomes a terminal disease. And, unfortunately, even with optimal treatment, some patients with severe heart failure continue to have damaged its clinical condition and evolve very symptomatic. The control of symptoms is appropriate priority in palliative care. The most common symptoms are: breathlessness, fatigue, nausea, constipation, anxiety and depression. Pain is common when the disease is advanced. Through this study, a survey of medicines was evaluated to treat the symptoms of patients with terminal heart failure in palliative care, which will allow the pharmacist new knowledge to work in multidisciplinary clinical practice.
